Andonovski: We have fulfilled our goals for this year - now, with intensive work, we are accelerating the processes of digital transformation

With great honor and a sense of responsibility, today we mark the first year since the establishment of the Ministry of Digital Transformation - a new, yet essential chapter in the political system of Macedonia - stated, among other things, the Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski, at a press conference marking the first anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry.

"What have we achieved in one year? First, services have reached the citizens, not the other way around. 120 new services, a number that is constantly growing. And that is why more than 170 thousand citizens have recognized it,” said the minister, who reminded that citizens can now access services online on the uslugi.gov.mk portal, and that, with the amendments to the law on electronic documents, for the first time, legally valid documents can be obtained without physical presence, with an electronic signature, QR code, in electronic form or printed.

Also, citizens who do not have access to digital tools or lack skills have not been left out, so during the summer, in addition to the new three Service Centres, at least three more will be opened.

,,We have connected the state. Through the interoperability platform, today over 70 institutions exchange data in real time. Instead of citizens carrying paper from one counter to another – institutions have started to communicate electronically. We have also strengthened the protection of state systems. First, we adopted the National Cyber Security Strategy after three years of vacuum. It also has a budget, an action plan with responsibilities and obligations for all affected”, said Andonovski.

The Minister also highlighted the adoption of 4 reform laws, aligned with EU regulations, such as the Law on Electronic Communications and the first Law on Cybersecurity, the Law on Archival Activities and the Law on Electronic Documents. A Cybersecurity Sector has also been formed, within whose framework there should be a Government Incident Response Centre (SOC).

Regarding the care for the digital safety of children and youth, Andonovski stated that the Ministry is actively working on establishing the national Centre for a Safer Internet MKSafeNet, which will be the first integrated national system of its kind, prioritizing the safety of the youth in the digital world at the highest level.

He also addressed the ban on over 220 websites for illegal online gambling – which is a concrete result of digital analysis and monitoring of IP addresses and VPN mechanisms.

Finally, the Minister also highlighted the Digital Europe program – and its most significant project: INNOFEIT – the European Digital Innovation Hub, which is the result of strategic cooperation between the Government, the academic community (FEIT) and the private sector, emphasizing that with investments of over 60 million denars, INNOFEIT is proof that Macedonia has the capacity not only to follow, but also to lead regional processes in digitalization and innovation.

"In the past 12 months, we have shown that with a clear strategy, cooperation between institutions and support from partners – results can be achieved that directly improve public service and increase trust in the state system," said Andonovski.
