MKSafeNet project

The MKSafeNet / Safer Internet Center project addresses the objectives of the Digital Europe call from the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) of the European Commission.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation participates as a full member in this program by allocating financial resources for an annual membership fee in order to utilize the opportunities it offers for the digitalization of society.

Specifically, through this MKSafeNet / Safer Internet Center project, the focus is on its establishment as a National Safer Internet Center in Macedonia because there is currently no established national Safer Internet Center.

Recognizing this gap, our project is dedicated to putting in place the basic infrastructure needed to introduce a comprehensive Safer Internet Centre (SIC) networked with the European Safer Internet Centres. Through joint efforts, we aim to enhance existing initiatives from the public and private sectors. Our goal is to improve the services offered, make age-appropriate content easy to access and raise awareness. This will enable individuals to quickly identify online risks and understand ways to report them.

The mission of MKSafeNet is perfectly aligned with the priorities of the call as outlined in the Objectives. At the heart of this initiative is the desire to strengthen national capacities in offering guidance and support.

Our target group extends to children, young people, parents, teachers, guardians and other vital stakeholders. The main goal of the project is to ensure a safer digital experience for children, offering tools and knowledge for responsible management of digital technologies and services. Additionally, we are committed to providing robust support mechanisms for victims of cyberbullying, children with special or specific needs, including those from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation aims for this center to continue to function as a systemic body within the ministry itself with long-term sustainability even after the completion of the project.
