ICT Development Strategy: SMART/MK 2030

Digitalization is not an end in itself, but a powerful tool for addressing major societal challenges – the fight against corruption, enhancing transparency, improving healthcare, education, and the judiciary, as well as creating a favorable business climate.

With the adoption of the ICT Development Strategy: SMART/MK 2030, the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is setting a clear vision for a smart, digital, connected, and innovative country – a country that uses technology in the service of its citizens, institutions, and economy. To ensure a fully comprehensive approach, the Strategy is based on four pillars:

  • ICT Infrastructure and Connectivity – developing a secure, accessible, and sustainable digital infrastructure as the foundation for digital transformation.

  • Digital Competences and Inclusiveness – building digital skills and ensuring equal access to digital opportunities for all citizens.

  • E-Governance and Electronic Services – improving public services, transparency, and trust in institutions through digital solutions.

  • Businesses, Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, and New Technologies – fostering the digital economy, the startup ecosystem, and the adoption of new technologies.

These priorities are fully aligned with the European framework of the Digital Decade 2030, and their implementation will be carried out through an Action Plan with concrete measures, timelines, and responsible institutions.
SMART/MK 2030 is a shared vision and commitment to building a digital, open, and competitive Macedonia, ready for the challenges and opportunities of the new century.
