On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Makedonski Telekom, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski. The signing of this strategic document represents a significant step towards improving the digital infrastructure.
Andonovski emphasized that this is a strategic step forward in the digital transformation of the country and the demands of citizens.
"Today's signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Makedonski Telekom represents a strategic step forward in our vision for a digital Macedonia – infrastructurally connected, technologically advanced and economically competitive. With this document, we are raising the cooperation to a higher level – from the current mutual support, towards a long-term strategic partnership with clearly defined goals and shared responsibility," stressed Andonovski.
The Minister of Digital Transformation added that investments will not only be made in infrastructure but also in people.
"Makedonski Telekom, as a leading private investor in digital infrastructure and at the same time a company with state capital, will focus on investments that will secure connection of 450,000 households and companies with gigabit fixed networks, expand coverage with a 5G network, and build a new Tier 3 data centre. But this partnership is not just an investment in infrastructure and servers – but an investment in people. Within the framework of this Memorandum, we also envisage activities for digital literacy, cyber security, support for digital skills in education and equipment in primary schools”, underlined the minister.
“Our vision is that digitalization should not distance institutions from citizens but rather bring them closer. To create trust, predictability and dignity in every administrative experience. With such partnerships, we show that Macedonia can build a digital future that does not forget people. On the contrary – it puts them at its centre”, concluded Andonovski.
