The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, during his appearance last night on the programme "360 Degrees" on MRT1, discussed the "m.Uslugi" mobile application, which will enable citizens to have their identity card, driving licence, and other documents in electronic form, all in one place on their mobile phone.
"A year ago, the demo version at the Digital Summit of the Western Balkans was promoted in Skopje. Since then, several thousand citizens have tested the application, and we have received over 200 notes. Additionally, in the analysis we conducted, we identified several aspects of functionality that needed improvement. The second key element was agreeing on a data exchange protocol with the Ministry of Interior, as the Ministry is the source institution for ID card and driver's license data," stated Andonovski.
He emphasized that ID cards and driver's licenses are just the beginning of the development of the application.
"The idea is for m.Uslugi to evolve as a super application. The goal is not just to have ID cards and driver's licenses available, but to function as a digital wallet where citizens can also keep other frequently used documents, such as birth certificates, university diplomas, diploma of secondary education, all in one place," said the minister. Andonovski pointed out that the promotion of the application marks the beginning of a process toward broader recognition and acceptance of electronic documents by institutions. He expects institutions, in cases where the law does not explicitly require the submission of a photocopy of an ID card or other document, to start accepting electronic versions immediately.
"We are initiating a process that I am aware will take time before electronic forms of personal documents are accepted by all institutions. However, this matter is already regulated by the Law on Electronic Documents, meaning their use is fully legitimate and legally established," emphasised Andonovski.
The Minister highlighted that the role of the Ministry of Digital Transformation is to open and advance these processes, so that electronic documents and services become a daily reality for citizens.
"This process may take time, but our task as the Ministry of Digital Transformation is to open and advance these processes. It was the same when I arrived, where through legislative changes we enabled institutions to accept electronic documents," said Andonovski.
