The Minister for Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, will participate in the Ministerial Summit of the European Commission on Startups, Research and Innovation in Podgorica, Montenegro, on 20 and 21 October. The Ministerial Summit will be chaired by European Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation at the European Commission.
The objective of the summit is to strengthen the startup ecosystem in the Western Balkans, deepen “smart specialization” policies, as well as promote research infrastructures and the application of artificial intelligence in science.
The program includes: Signe Ratso, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission; Maida Gorčević, Minister for European Affairs of Montenegro; Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, Minister of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro; Bartosz Marcinkowski, Representative of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Commission; Martin Kern, Director of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology; and Amer Kapetanović, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council.
Minister Andonovski will address the ministerial roundtable on the topic of "Research Infrastructures and Artificial Intelligence in Science". In his presentation, he will present the priorities of the Republic of Macedonia in the digital transformation: modernization of public electronic services, interoperability of systems, open data and support for innovations and startups, as well as safe and ethical application of artificial intelligence in science and public administration.
On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Andonovski, along with the rest of the Macedonian delegation, will hold several bilateral meetings, including with European Commissioner Zaharieva.
