In these most difficult moments for the Macedonian state and people since its independence, as the Ministry responsible for regulating issues related to the media and media operations, we appeal for responsibility, professionalism, and protection of the media and media workers.
Threats directed at journalists, editors and media outlets that aim to prevent impartial, open and quality media reporting are unacceptable.
Compared to many more developed societies, Macedonian media and media workers demonstrate exceptional professionalism in their work and reporting, in these tragic moments of collective grief and anger.
We appeal to the competent institutions for an immediate and efficient response, in order to determine the responsibility of anyone who threatens and obstructs the work of the media, in order to ensure the protection of journalists from such pressures.
These difficult moments are a test for the entire country. We will continue to monitor all similar cases in the future, because the safety of journalists is of the utmost importance for the functioning of democracy.
