At the conference "Transforming the Future: Digital Strategy for a Modern Society", dedicated to the promotion of the National Strategy for ICT Development - SMART/MK 2030, the Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski highlighted that, according to the latest results in the GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI) 2025 of the World Bank, Macedonia is recognized as a country with a high level of maturity in the digital transformation of the public sector.
"In the latest GovTech Maturity Index 2025 of the World Bank, Macedonia is ranked in the category A - Extensive GovTech maturity, with a score of 0.760, together with countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands and New Zealand, which confirms our position among the countries that demonstrate solid capacities for the digitization of public services and the advancement of government digital systems," said Andonovski.
This result represents an progress compared to previous editions of the index (as in the GTMI 2023 report), when Macedonia was not part of the highest maturity group, was rated 0.570 and belonged to lower ranked categories according to the included scope of criteria digital for transformation. This represents advancement for 22 places, from 101 to 79.
The advancement in category A – Extensive GovTech maturity reflects our continuous work on advancing digital platforms, strengthening core government systems and improving interaction with citizens through digital channels.
This success confirms the Government’s commitment to a modern, efficient and transparent digital administration that provides better services for citizens and businesses.
