During the visit to Washington, working meetings are being held at the US State Department today. The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, this morning held a working meeting with Russ Headlee, Senior Bureau Official (SBO), the head of the Bureau of Cybersecurity and Digital Policies of the US Department of State.
The meeting confirmed the joint commitment to promote bilateral cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United States of America in the field of digital transformation and cybersecurity. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation in key areas: cybersecurity and digital policies; attracting investments from the US in the field of digitalization and cybersecurity; reliable connection of institutions and secure infrastructure; resilience and trust.
Additionally, the discussion also covered issues related to strengthening the capacities between partner governments, exchange of expertise, as well as public-private cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, with the aim of developing secure and reliable digital public services and protecting critical digital infrastructure.
“Digital transformation must go hand in hand with cybersecurity and trust in technology. Cooperation with the State Department and the Bureau of Cybersecurity and Digital Policy is an important step towards strengthening our capacities and accelerating the modernization of public services,” emphasized Minister Andonovski.
Continuing the work agenda, together with the Macedonian delegation led by the President of the Parliament, Afrim Gashi, Minister Andonovski also met with Daniel J. Lawton, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the State Department. This meeting represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation, building institutional capacities, exchange of expertise and mutual support between North Macedonia and the United States.
The meetings concluded with an agreement on next steps, including determining priority areas for cooperation and regular communication between the teams, with the aim of preparing and implementing specific activities and projects in the upcoming period.
