The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, today addressed the German-Macedonian Business Summit 2026, organized by the German Chamber of Commerce — AHK Nordmazedonien and the Macedonian-German Business Association.
In his speech, Andonovski emphasized that cooperation in the economic sphere means confirmation of the strategic partnership of the two countries, and added that the digitalization of the public sector is not just a technical topic, but an economic measure that directly affects competitiveness, investments, productivity and trust in institutions.
“We should not consider digitalization as an objective in itself. It is a tool for a better state and a more competitive economy,” said Minister Andonovski.
He emphasized that the goal of the Ministry of Digital Transformation is for the state to become faster, more accessible and more secure, and for public services not to slow down business, but to support its development.
The focus of the address was on three key pillars: the National Services Portal, interoperability and cybersecurity.
Speaking about the National Services Portal — uslugi.gov.mk, the Minister stressed that it represents one of the key points through which digitalization becomes directly visible and accessible to citizens and companies. Over the past two years, around 200 new electronic services have been digitized, 13 new Service Centres have been opened across the country, and the legal validity of electronic documents issued through the National Portal has been ensured, equal to paper documents.
“When we talk about the National Services Portal, we are not just speaking about a website. We are discussing about business infrastructure and a new way of communication between the state, citizens and the economy,” stressed Andonovski.
The Minister also reflected on interoperability, which enables institutions and users of the platform to exchange data safely, standardized and legally. He emphasized that the goal is to "flow of data, not to people", which reduces administrative costs and speeds up procedures for companies.
Speaking about cybersecurity, Andonovski said that it is a prerequisite for trust in digital services, data protection and economic resilience.
"Digitalization and cybersecurity must go hand in hand. Digital services have no value if citizens and companies do not believe that the systems are secure," the minister emphasized.
Finally, Andonovski highlighted that the German-Macedonian economic cooperation is an example of the importance of trust, standards and long-term vision, adding that the business community is a key partner in the next phase of digital transformation.
As part of the event, the Minister was also part of a panel discussion that debated the future plans and objectives that Macedonia wants to achieve in the area of digital transformation.
