Andonovski: From next year fully automated registration of newborns

Andonovski: From next year fully automated registration of newborns

The Government and the Ministry of Digital Transformation are fulfilling another election promise. Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry has formed a working group between several institutions, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Registry Office, the Ministry of Health - Electronic Health Directorate and the relevant public health institutions, to achieve complete automation in issuing the first birth certificate for newborns (Project: e-baby).

The project e-baby, which is also supported by the office of UNICEF, stipulates that parents will receive the first certificate in the hospital, no later than 48 hours after the baby's birth.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation, using the National Interoperability Platform and the National Service Portal - uslugi.gov.mk, has implemented the connection of all relevant institutions in the process of fully automated registration of newborns. In the second phase of the project, health insurance services from the Health Fund are also linked, as well as newborn care services issued by the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth.

Parents will be required to have a low-level profile on the National Service Portal - uslugi.gov.mk.

With the dedicated effort of the working group, our commitment is to fully implement the project by January 2026.
