The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, is today on a working visit to Barcelona, Spain, where he is participating in MWC26 (Mobile World Congress) - the largest global event that unites policymakers for digitalisation, representatives of telecom operators and the largest manufacturers of mobile devices and digital solutions in the world.
During his visit, the Minister focused on lobbying for the principle of "roaming like home", with the aim of further improving the conditions for citizens and businesses by reducing roaming costs and aligning with European standards.
Minister Andonovski was part of the GSMA Ministerial Programme, where key policies and priorities related to connectivity, digital infrastructure, security and future network technologies were discussed.
"This is the largest global event that brings together policymakers for digitalisation, representatives of telecom operators and the largest manufacturers of mobile devices in the world. Together with representatives of governments and representatives of the private sector, we discuss the issues that most affect our citizens and users, and for us this is certainly the project "Roaming like home" - which means prices like home for using mobile services, SMS messages and internet anywhere in the European Union. I can say that we receive great support for this project from governments and our international partners, as well as understanding from large telecom operators," stressed Andonovski.
The Minister added: "During the day, I had the opportunity to meet with mobile operators present in Macedonia, as well as numerous global equipment manufacturers, cloud service providers, where we discussed the most important issues that currently affect the digitalization sector: building of data centres, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the complete digital transformation of society."
